Rationale
An acceptable standard of dress is required to be worn at Eastern Suburbs Montessori and Glendowie School, and must be maintained (Section 72 Education Act – Control and management). This is in keeping with our consultation with the community, which showed a strong preference for our children to be in uniform. The colours chosen (light blue / dark blue) are in keeping with the environment around the school – sea/sky. The logo shows the Tamaki Estuary, sandspit, yachts and also depicts our bi-culturalism.
All uniform items, with the exception of shoes and socks, must be purchased from “The School Uniform Shop”. The school shop does hold samples of uniform items at the school office and is open on Fridays.
Guidelines:
- In cases of financial hardship families may pay off their uniforms by instalment. This arrangement is at the Principal’s discretion. Parents may also be able to arrange a clothing grant through Work & Income.
- Wearing of uniforms is compulsory.
- Coloured t-shirts and singlets, if worn under the uniform, must not be visible at any time.
